Do your kids even have some extra energy to burn? This is the perfect classroom solution to kids with too many wiggles. As you play this game, kids will practice skills and get some physical activity in.
This version of the game features short vowels. There are worksheets to go with each of the ten PowerPoint games included. There are SO many ways to use these with your class! I recommend having students write the name of each picture as you name them. This will ensure that they know what each picture name is and don't try to write "bear" for the "cub". I have included an answer key for each worksheet to make this easier for you. After they have written the words, use the PowerPoint to review answers. Each letter is hidden on the slides. Click to reveal a letter. This allows you to focus on beginning, ending, or middle sounds. As an alternative, use dry erase boards and quickly assess where they are at.
This set includes:
Short A (featuring 16 CVC slides and 4 bonus blends)
Short E (featuring 16 CVC slides and 4 bonus blends)
Short I (featuring 16 CVC slides and 4 bonus blends)
Short O (featuring 16 CVC slides and 4 bonus blends)
Short U (featuring 16 CVC slides and 4 bonus blends)
1 Blend Review game (featuring all short vowels mixed)
4 Short Vowel CVC games (featuring all vowels mixed)
As you play, the game is interrupted for physical challenges. Students must jog in place, punch their arms in front of them, do jumping jacks, and hop in place. To help reinforce the vowel sounds, have students say the featured vowel sound as they do the exercises! There are directions for how to do the exercises and information about how they benefit the body. Animated timers and music add to the fun! At the end, there is a bonus "Move it Marathon". Students must do each workout for 10 seconds. This is a great way for our kids to practice skills, burn some energy, and help them get fit. This is also great for a day when weather does not allow you to go outside.
