Short Vowel Pocket Phonics
Center Directions: With the card still in the pocket; the students will use a white board to write the sounds they hear in the word. Students check their guess against the correct spelling of the word by pulling the card from the pocket. They will then record the correct spelling of the word on the recording form. This center is low maintenance, you can run it all year just by changing the cards. (Also available long vowels
, and a FREE Thanksgiving set
I have this set up on a half science board. My students LOVE this center (mainly because they get to use dry erase markers) and I love this center because it really gets the kids thinking about word patterns, and making sense of phonics.
This center includes center titles with 3 different backgrounds and student directions to match. Also included are a variety of recording sheets.
NOTE: You will need to use library pockets, a template can be found in this file but they can also easily be found at a teacher store.
