    Description

    Students love hands on projects, and these short vowel paper bag books are fun and meaningful for young learners. They work well for teaching rhyme, CVC patterns, vowel sounds, and reading through the word. These paper bag projects will help your students with decoding words in chunks. It is best for small group instruction in kindergarten and first grade or in a literacy workstation run by a parent volunteer or teaching assistant.

    HOW TEACHERS CAN USE THESE SHORT VOWEL PROJECTS:

    Teachers can use these project as intervention for students who need support with phonics or with small groups to introduce each vowel sound. There is a little prep involved, but the activities include picture sorting, push and say word building, rhyming, and draw/label activities giving varied practice.

    • Listening for Words that Rhyme with Word One
    • Building Words that Rhyme with Focus Word Two

    • Picture Sort for Words that Rhyme with two focus words
    • Draw and Label Words that Rhyme with the focus word.

    The final books are 8 pages in length and will take a week to complete. It requires 2 paper lunch bags to create. There is one project per vowel.
