Thanks for checking out this packet! This packet helps gear learning toward Common Core Standard RF.1.2. Though I designed this packet for my first grade learners, it can also be used for kindergarten students who are ready to use vowels or for second graders who need remediation.
*Vowel Word Sorts – laminate each page that contains three columns of word endings. These are the pages that you complete the sorts on. Next, laminate the pages that have the actual words on them and cut out each set of words and put them into Ziploc baggies. You can either separate the words into bags by vowels or mix all words in one bag for more of a challenge. The sorts are now ready to use. The children simply find the write column to put the word on.
*The next activity is a trace, write, write for each vowel to reinforce the spellings of the given words. You can either laminate them and have the kids write on them with a dry erase marker or you can copy them and have the kids use pencil.
*The last activity should be copied and the children pick a word for the given vowel to use in a sentence. To further understanding, the children then draw a picture of their sentence.
