Your students will have fun being "Super Readers" as they make and read real and silly CVC words with short vowel sounds!
Option 1: Print and cut out superhero cards. For durability, print on cardstock and/or laminate. Cut out the squares from each superhero card to make a little window, either using a square punch or a pair of sharp scissors. Have students use a card like a magnifying glass and set it over letters, either from the included letter sheet, or while reading the room. Any real words they make get written on the “real words” list and silly words go on the silly side. Use any or all of the superhero cards at a time. For example, if you are working on the short a sound, only use the short a cards. If all short vowels have been introduced, use them all!
Option 2: Print and cut out superhero cards and letter cards. Instead of cutting out the square to make a window, have students set letter cards onto the square to make words, and then write them on the real words/silly words sheet. This could be done in a center, or in pairs.
