This product is perfect for your literacy centers, Daily 5 or to use during small group reading instruction! These word sorts were created to use as a supplement to Words Their Way.
This word work activity gives your students hands-on practice with short vowel word families. Word sorts are great tools for helping your students review the word families or “chunks” they have learned in class. Each closed sort lesson allows the student to demonstrate their understanding of word patterns and the relationship between letters and sounds through a manipulative activity. There are 6 word sort activities.
These activities can be used as a review for short vowel sounds or as reinforcement for your struggling readers. You may copy each sorting sheet to use as a cut and paste OR use them as a literacy center activities. To save time during Daily 5/Literacy Centers, copy the word sorts on different color tag board, laminate and cut the word cards apart. Then have students sort the words and record how they sorted the words.
