This pack of word sorts provides an introduction to or review of short vowels. Concepts include practice with CVC words of each vowel in isolation as well as in comparison to another vowel. I also added a multisyllabic practice with short vowel compound words. Finally, you will find digraph and ss-ll-ff-zz rule sorts that include only short vowels so you can introduce those concepts while still reviewing short vowel sounds.
-5 word lists, one for each of the vowel sound in isolation
-3 comparison sorts of 2 different vowel sounds
-1 compound word sort with only closed syllables/short vowels
-1 digraph sort with only short vowels
-1 ss-ll-ff-zz rule sort
Each of the 11 sorts has a list of 15 words that can be used for a variety of purposes from weekly spelling work to intervention sessions focusing on phonics rules. The worksheets are meant to be cut so words can be glued in student notebooks or kept in envelopes to be brought out for review throughout the week. This resource can be used for word study in classrooms kindergarten through fifth grade or in intervention work for students of all ages. Great for teachers and parents utilizing the Orton-Gillingham methodology.
