Short Vowels Bundle! Phonics/Word Work

This is a bundle of my short vowel units for a discounted price than if purchased separately!

Beginning readers need to have a solid understanding of short vowel sounds. I have created a variety of engaging activities to help your students grasp the short a, e, i, o, and u sounds. All activities are ready to go and require no additional prep work other than printing and copying!

Included are 5 separate units containing activities for:
-Short a
-Short e
-Short i
-Short o
-Short u

For each vowel unit, there are a variety of engaging activities ideal for center work, independent practice, your whole or small group reading lessons. Activities include:

-I Can Spell a Short ___ Word: Students look at the picture, encode each sound, and write it 2 times
-Short vowel word family houses: Use these to generate word families.
-Mix it, Fix it, Write It: Students unscramble the words to make a short vowel word and write the word correctly in pencil then in rainbow colors. I recommend providing students with letter magnets for this activity so they can manipulate the letters. 2 pages are included for each short vowel: one CVC and one CCVC (blends/digraphs).
-Draw It: Students read the sentences containing short vowel words. They draw a picture that describes the sentence.
-Rhyming Short Vowel Words
-Highlight a Short Vowel Word: Read, highlight, and record short vowel words
-Short Vowel Books: Students trace, write, and draw a picture of each word. They then write a sentence with the word.
-Short Vowel Decodable Stories: Read, highlight, and record words, story with questions
-Short Vowel Family Sorts: Cut, read, and sort words with various short vowel word families
-Short Vowel Picture Sorts: Cut and sort pictures with various short vowel word families.
