They could not be included with this Mega Bundle due to size limitations.
Illustrated Word Wall
Contains over 400 Short Vowel words to be posted in the classroom as a reference tool and to be used for literacy center activities. This component is also available separately: Short Vowels Illustrated Phonics Word Wall
45 Pages in total - one page per word family. Students trace the upper and lower case of each letter in the word family as well as a sentence with words from the word family. Students also draw a picture to match the sentence to practice reading and visualization.
70 pages with various levels of difficulty, practicing onsets, rimes, reading and spelling. This component is also available separately: Short Vowels Word Work
45 Pages in total, one page per word family. Students choose 3 words from the word family, draw a picture of it and write a sentence with the word. High frequency words are also included on the page. This activity is especially helpful in getting reluctant or struggling writers to write a complete sentence, while allowing more capable students to write to their ability. As students repeat this activity while going through the word families, they build confidence in their ability to write and become well prepared for more open-ended writing activities.
Write your own Short Vowel book
There are 6 templates for writing a "book" for each of the Short Vowel sets. Students use the pictures included in the template as inspiration to write their own sentences, which become longer and more complex as they repeat the activity for each short vowel set. The format is open-ended so students can write as short or as long a book as they are capable of.
Phonics Spinner Games
10 Phonics Spinners, 6 which have only the word families from one set and 4 which are a mix of all the word families. Also included are 4 game variations and recording sheets.
Each section follows a similar pattern which helps students develop a routine with their phonics and writing work, leading to steady improvement as they progress from word family to word family. The writing tasks especially lend themselves to all levels, including emergent writers, and students are encouraged to develop their writing abilities through scaffolded activities. They develop the fundamental skills needed to complete the more open-ended writing tasks found in other areas of the curriculum.
