    Description

If you are looking for a resource for phonics remediation while still giving your students some confidence by reviewing important literacy skills, you will love this series. You will love the no prep, print and go ease of these FIFTY Short and Long Vowel Words Color By Code Worksheet Resources for your class. This Color By Code Short and Long Vowels Bundle includes 50 pages for introducing or reviewing short vowels and long vowels by focusing only on a FEW Short Vowels or Long Vowel Words per page.

What are Short Vowel CVC Words?

CVC words are basic, three-letter words that begin with a consonant, have a middle letter with a short vowel sound, and end with a consonant. For kindergarteners and early readers, they are simple to sound out because they don’t include any of the tricky blends or diphthongs commonly found in the English language. Short Vowel CVC Words are an essential skill to master in Kindergarten. Students need to be able to isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in three-phoneme (consonant-vowel-consonant, or CVC) words. The twenty-five pages of this resource focusing on short vowels have only a few color selections and only a few Short Vowel CVC Words per page, to help your students focus on the repetitive pattern of Short Vowel CVC Words.

    What are Long Vowel Words?

Long vowel is the term used to refer to vowel sounds whose pronunciation is the same as its letter name. Long Vowel Words are an essential skill to master in First Grade. Students need to be able to know final -e and common vowel team conventions for representing long vowel sounds. The twenty-five pages of this resource focusing on long vowels have only a few color selections and only a few Long Vowel Words, to help your students focus on the repetitive pattern of sounds of Long Vowel Words.

With the 50 Answer Keys also included, this helps you quickly and efficiently check your students work in a very short amount of time. Cute and colorful, they would make a wonderful addition to your student work bulletin board or to their home refrigerator "art museum" while having some Short Vowel and Long Vowel Word Fun learning and reviewing important skills at the same time! All the while giving your students a fun and exciting review of important literacy skills at the same time!

Following the Above Sequence, Here Are the Lesson Plan Ideas:

Monday - Project page 1, to introduce Color By Code to your class with a step by step direct teacher-led lesson on the overhead document camera. I start by showing the students line by line what color is the answer to what word. So for example, "bat = orange" I color the entire "bat =orange" in the CODE BOX with an orange crayon. Once your students know your procedures, the remaining pages can be used by your students independently. An alternative, based on the ability level of your class, is that this teacher-led lesson can also be completed during your reading small group lesson on Monday.

Tuesday - Use page 2 during morning work, math seat work, math centers or small group time.

Wednesday - Use page 3 during morning work, math seat work, math centers or small group time.

Thursday - Use page 4 during morning work, math seat work, math centers or small group time.

Friday - Use page 5 during morning work, math seat work, math centers or small group time. For a "Fun Friday" let your students use markers, pastels, colored pencils, or watercolor paints today. It may not be perfect, it may be a little messy, but after five days you will have a great understanding and enough documentation to know if your students know their long vowels.
