Word Finding/Word Retrieval Assessment for Phonological Processing Skills

Word finding or word retrieval is an individual's ability to think of or use words. Ever had that "tip of your tongue" feeling? That's word finding! For students with language impairment, that feeling can be all too frequent, as the knowledge is there, but accessing it is difficult.

This 5 page document was developed to screen or obtain baseline measures for basic word finding skills. Included are 20 each of:

Timed Categories (name as many _____ as you can in ___ seconds)

Complete the Category (___, _____, and ____ are all...)

Associations (socks and ...)

Opposites (the opposite of _____ is...)

Synonyms (____ is the same as...)

Verb Transformation (If I ____ I am a...)

Cloze Sentences (I put the ____ on the stove)

I've also included a simple baseline measurement chart for tracking progress.
