Product Description
Word family studies are a core essential in reading instruction. Word families represent patterns in language. When a child masters single en multisyllabic words in these activities, they become more knowledgable and comfortable with rhyming and decoding more complex words as they acquire their reading skills. In turn this strengthens automaticity in reading. These Phonogram activity books include 12 essential skill practices for the -an word family. Teachers can introduce the word family and provide guided practice or supplement an existing lesson with more relevant practice.

The Activity Booklet is aligned to the Common Core Standards:
RF.K.2a Recognize and produce rhyming words.
RF.K.2b Count, pronounce, blend, and segment syllables in spoken words.
RF.K.2c Blend and segment onsets and rimes of single-syllable spoken words.
RF.K.2d Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in three-phoneme (consonant-vowel-consonant, or CVC) words.1 (This does not include CVCs ending with /l/, /r/, or /x/.)
RF.K.2e Add or substitute individual sounds (phonemes) in simple, one-syllable words to make new words.
