These short and long vowel differentiated picture sorts are a great way for students to practice segmenting, blending, spelling, sorting, writing, cutting and identifying short and long vowel sounds. This unit includes 4 levels of sorts for short and long a, e, i, o, u. Each sort also includes a writing recording sheet that helps students figure out how many words they have to sort on the sorting mats along with an extension writing part for your higher level thinkers. Use these sorts as part of seat work, intervention, small group instruction, or review. Sorts are differentiated to meet the needs of all students. Cover pages are also included to keep your units organized.
This unit also includes five centers with two levels of sorting cards, sorting mats, and recording worksheet.
First level sorts: Students trace the words that represent the pictures then cut, sort, and glue the words on the sorting mat, and last color.
Mid-level sorts: Students fill in the missing word family, and then cut, sort, glue the words on the sorting mat, and color.
Higher level sorts: Students are given three blank lines for each picture to write the words and then cut, sort, glue, and color.
Most challenging level sorts: Students are given a blank line for each picture to write the words before cutting, sorting, gluing, and coloring.
