I had a student who was having difficulty sorting long and short 'ea' words such as 'clean' and 'head' so I created this game to help reinforce sorting a variety of 'ea' words.
Once the word cards are printed, the student reads the word and decides whether the card belongs in a short 'ea' discard pile or a long 'ea' discard pile. If the student is right, he/she follows the "right" directions under the word on the card. If the student chooses the wrong discard pile, he/she follows the "wrong" directions on the word card. This card is then placed back into the deck so that the student may have more practice with that particular word.
This game worked well with my student, and it was a great way to practice these sounds without feeling like he was actually working!
