This packet is a hands-on FUN approach to learning and practicing short/long vowel sounds! Students will be engaged in a FUN way as they learn the sound differences between all five of the short/long vowel sounds. If the students wish, they can enjoy coloring their own animal mats to use for the games. Then students will draw a card with either a short vowel sound or a long vowel sound on the card, read the word, listen to the vowel sound, and then decide on which animal mat the card belongs. There are 42 long/short a words to sort; 29 long/short e words; 24 long/short i words; 28 long/short o words; and 23 long/short u words.
