This pack includes 9 cut and paste sorting activities! Students will sort long and short vowel "a" words under the following categories: long a vs. short a, "game" vs. "rat," and a picture representing long a vs. a picture representing short a. The first 3 activities have simple CVC words with short "a," and long CVCE "a" words. The next 3 activities have short a words that contain initial and/or ending blends/digraphs, as well as long a words that contain blends and digraphs, or have the long /ai/ or /ay/ vowel sound. The final 3 activities the students will be sorting pictures that represent long and short "a." The activities are tiered for differentiation! You can color code these activities when putting them in centers for independent review. This can be used in small group instruction, or as a whole group activity. You can also use these activities as a way to formatively assess your students.
**BONUS ACTIVITY ADDED**
There is a Long Vowel coloring bonus activity included! There are pictures that represent both long and short /a/. Students will color the pictures that represent long /a/.
