This is meant to be an activity to follow-up learning about immigration. You can do it in pairs/groups or as an individual assignment. Normally, I will do one item with them. I then give them time to work, I do time them, generally 2-3 minutes per resource. At the end we discuss the lab, the individual resources, and then they will do a reflection. The reflection question for this lab is: Should America maintain strict immigration policies? The students turn in the reflections as an exit ticket so I can check for understanding.
To get students moving around, you could do this in a “Gallery Walk” style. You would post the political cartoons in different areas of your room, or even the school, and students would walk around to look at the resources.
