I created these activities to teach shape vocabulary to my young English language learners. I used them with my mixed-age, mixed ability class (pre-K to G2) and they all loved it. The activity works for English-speaking students as well as ELLs. The children will learn to name and recognize basic 2D shapes - square, circle, triangle, star, pentagon, diamond, hexagon, octagon, line, and wiggly line!
The lesson plan includes instructions for introducing the shapes, singing an interactive shapes song, and playing an active and fun shapes game. Shapes flashcards and lyrics to the song are included in the pdf.
