Working with small groups brings the extra challenge of not being able to monitor the other students in the classroom and whether or not they are struggling with their assigned tasks. This often leads to students either sitting there doing nothing or sitting there with their hands raised, which also interrupts your group time.
These student understanding flips cards will help you more easily manage and assess who needs extra help. You can use these for individual students or your entire class. This also helps for those students who are reluctant to ask for help.
These cards are black and white where you can print them on colored cardstock and laminate for extra durability. I use green for "I completely understand!", yellow for "I kind of understand", red for "I don't understand, yet!", and an extra fourth color of your choice if you chose to use the "I can help teach someone!" card.
All students begin on green and they are able to flip their card to represent their understanding. You can quickly glance at the display and see who needs extra help.
