I created this activity to use at the beginning of the school year to get a quick “snapshot” of what my new first graders know. I intend to use this in a small group setting so that I can see if my students understand the concepts involved with the task cards. I want to know if they can complete the task independently, but I also want to know if they are familiar with the language involved with the concepts. You most certainly could use this activity in a center, as a Scoot game, or Walk the Room activity. Again, I’m choosing to use this in a small group setting so I can read each task card to the group to clarify any misunderstandings my kiddos might have.
While this activity is designed for the beginning of first grade, it would be perfect to use an end of the year assessment in Kindergarten. Second grade teachers COULD most definitely use this an independent activity for Scoot! or Walk the Room.
