This lesson teaches kids the importance of using "Showing Language" instead of "Telling Language" in their writing. The excerpt from C.S. Lewis' book, "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" is when Lucy first enters Narnia. Students listen and visualize as the teacher reads this excerpt aloud. Following this students look for sentences that "show, not tell" in the excerpt and underline them in blue crayon. Finally, students pick an exemplary sentence from the excerpt. Lesson originally designed for 4th graders, but easily used at other levels.
