Students will all need a white board and a dry erase marker.
Teacher will display the slide with the questions students will write the answer on the white board if it is a compound, element, organic or inorganic. When student finish their answer they will flip their board over on their desk and wait for the teacher to say SHOW ME. Students will then raise boards in the air and teacher can check for understanding. This is a way to get a whole class involved and get them to take risks. Students can freely try to answer questions without being nervous of getting it wrong. My students really enjoy this activity and it is a way to get away from worksheets and do a quick assessment on who is getting it and who is not.
You may also have students work in groups with one whiteboard and have studens pass the board amongst the group so everyone gets to write one.
