This unit contains four activities to practice "showing, not telling" and the use of sensory details with students for narrative writings.
Activity #1: Students will view and listen a song and identify examples of sensory details through citations and highlighting.(example included)
Activity #2: Students will view an opening scene to a television show and record sensory details in a chart provided.
Activity #3: Students will rewrite "boring" sentences into vivid ones using sensory details (example included)
Activity #4: Students will write a narrative paragraph showing not telling. The paragraph will be based on the opening scene of two TV shows (students may choose the one they would like to write on)
