Description
Description: Have you ever listened to your music on shuffle and thought "What are the chances?" when your favorite song or artist comes up? Students will shuffle their music players and discover the probability.
Common Core Standards: 7.SP.7 (and more)
Materials: dice (one pair needed if playing as a class)
Student Learning Goals:
(1) Students will be able to calculate the expected probability of an event occuring.
(2) Students will be able to observe and calculate the probability from conducting an experiment.
(3) Students will be able to compare and explain the differences between the expected and experimental probabilities.
PDF Download includes Lesson Plan, Student Guide, & Student Journal Page (see images).

CCSS7.SP.C.7
Develop a probability model and use it to find probabilities of events. Compare probabilities from a model to observed frequencies; if the agreement is not good, explain possible sources of the discrepancy.
