I use this bubble sheet to monitor student progress for all 500+ of my students. It's easy to use, motivates students, and reduces my stress.
How does it work? Just fill in your student names and your I can statements and place the sheets in a binder where students can access the pages. Every time you "catch" a student meeting the learning target they go up to the binder, finds their name, and colors in a bubble. I like to assign a bubble for the performance level so if they give me a complete sentence or memorized phrase they get a green bubble for Novice Mid. If they create with the language or ask a question they get a blue bubble for Novice High. They can even get a bubble for repeating after me or one word answers with a yellow Novice Low bubble. When they get all 10 bubbles I check them off with the date and they get a Hershey kiss. Then they start their next set.
My students LOVE this system and will tell me they don't have enough blue bubbles. I remind them what they need to do to get there. My administrators love it because I can show them exactly how students are performing in the target language. And I love it because I'm not the one trying to keep track of all of the information because the students do that part themselves!
