Product Description
This is a set of 119 practice pages perfect for independent work at a work station or to use for homework and is meant to accompany the "Rainbow Readers High Frequency & Sight Words" list. There is one word per page.

The words are a group of words that I have compiled from researching guided reading books and other sight word lists. The list starts out with words that are easier and usually found in a Level A book. Then progressively, as in guided reading books, the words get more difficult. It is not scientific by any means, but it is a good starting point.

I truly believe that if students are practicing the same words they are seeing in their leveled guided reading books, they will be more successful. When I had used other lists, such as Fry, I found students would get “stuck” on a list because the words were random in difficulty level and not words they were used to seeing in books we had worked on in our reading groups. Hopefully, you will find this beneficial to you as well. This is a “new” way of teaching sight words for me, but I’m trying it to see how it works. 

I give students a weekly READING test over their own “assigned” list of words, usually the list corresponds with the reading level they are on in guided reading. I also assign each student a list of 4 words that he/she has to learn how to SPELL each week.

Once they have mastered a list of words—meaning they can READ and SPELL all the words, he/she will color that ray of their rainbow. We are doing an ocean theme this year, so I’m going to let the kids color that “bubble” that corresponds with his/her list instead of the rainbow. You can adapt it to your theme however you want to.

This is the 2nd of two sets of practice sheets for students to work on as they are trying to master their list of words. (For levels A-G) I use the 1st set in work stations, and send the 2nd set home for homework. I have students do 4 pages—that correspond with the 4 words they are learning to SPELL that week. You can use them in a variety of ways that best fits your needs
