For all of those beginning music ensembles: chorus, band and orchestra, that need to work on Sight Reading! Simply print this label and tape it around a jar. Inside the jar you can put several strips of 2-line sight-reading examples of your choice. The selected sight-reading exercise is passed to a chosen student in the ensemble who is given 30 seconds to figure it out before playing for the class ! A great daily-procedure that takes almost no time out of class, encourages solo performance and listening skills from the non-playing students, requires that students keep their sight-reading skills sharp (no pun intended!), and allows for a quick and easy individual assessment. Sight-reading can be as easy as Level 1 for Elementary Music or Advanced for High School students.
