This pack is of the 1st Grade Dolch Sight Words. Included are a checklist of all the words included, caller cards for the student calling out the words, colored flies, and black & white flies (for printer friendly printing).
Below are the directions for the game to give you an idea of how your students could play this game.
2 Players: Lay out the flies. Put the caller cards in a pile. One student is the caller and one student is the swatter. Set a timer for 1 minute. The caller turns over the first card and reads the word. The swatter swats the fly with the correct word when they find it. If they swat the correct word the caller puts the caller card in a “correct” pile, if the swatter was incorrect then the caller puts the caller card in an “incorrect” pile. At the end of 1 minute count how many words the swatter, swatted correctly. Then the players switch roles.
3-4 Players: Lay out the flies. Put the caller cards in a pile. One student is the caller and the others are the swatters. Set a timer for 5 minutes. The caller turns over the first card and reads the word. The first swatter to swat the fly with the correct word on it, keeps the caller card. At the end of 5 minutes the swatters count up the number of cards they have, whoever has the most cards gets to be the caller in the next round.
I hope you find this game useful in your classroom and that your students enjoy it as much as mine have.
