WHAT'S INCLUDED?
- Sight Word Activity Strip cover page
- Sight Words I Know student success tracker page
- 40 Sight Word Activity Strips - one for each Dolch Primer Sight Word
- 40 "Write It" strips - copy on the back and students write the sight word in a sentence
There are four different engaging activities on each strip, and they vary based on which set is being practiced!
Here are the details of each activity....
Circle & Count: students have to discriminate between different fonts/sight words to find the sight word being practiced. Once students have found as many of the sight word being practiced that there are, they have to count them and write the number found.
Trace & Write: students practice tracing the sight word, followed by writing it two times.
Color by Number: numbers 0-10 are used in this set. The numbers are put in sequence and both count up and down. Students have to color in the bubble sight word by the corresponding numbers/colors given.
Match & Color: This is a favorite...students have to match pairs of sight words by coloring them in. I let students use Dab or dot markers for this and they LOVE it!!!
Find & Circle: students have to discriminate between different fonts/sight words to find the sight word being practiced. Once students have found as many of the sight word being practiced that there are, they can use three other colors to circle the other three sight words in the group.
Count & Graph: Students have to count how many times the four given sight words showed up on the "find & color" activity. Then, they graph those numbers on the column graph.
Roll & Color: Colors are given for numbers 1-6. Students roll the die and color in one letter of the word using the number/color key.
Match It: students have to discriminate between different fonts/sight words to match the sight word being practiced and other second grade sight words. They can do this with a simple line, or be creative and let students circle with colors, underline, highlight, etc..
Pattern It: Students get to have fun, while being challenged to come up with a color/design pattern for the sight word. Students can use ABAB patterns, ABBA patterns, etc...
Tally & Total: This activity incorporates math skills too! Students make tally marks matching the number in each letter box. After they have made tally marks (or have drawn it out using ten frames, base ten blocks...) they then add up the numbers and write a total. The sums are to 20.
