Your Kiddos will love playing ‘It’s raining, it’s pouring’ Sight Word Bingo, Pre-primer Set 1. It’s played just like normal bingo, but as the sight words are called out, players use their ‘umbrella’ counter cards to protect their bingo board’s characters from the rain! Despite the cute theme, the focus of the game remains entirely on identification of sight words.

This bingo game focuses on 20 sight words from the Dolch Pre-primer list: a, and, can, come, for, go, here, I, is, in, look, my, said, see, the, to, up, we, where, you.

This resource includes a ‘bingo leaders’ calling board, calling cards, umbrella counter cards and 12 different, colorful game boards with a variety of 6 sight words.

All you need to do is print, laminate, cut out the cards and you’re good to go!

With 12 different game boards in this file, you could make up 2 bingo game packs for small group activities (perfect as a center activity), or even print 2 copies of the PDF so your whole class can play!

This is a great hands on learning activity to assist your little learners in early sight word identification. It’s a great way to engage both small and larger groups of kiddos in sight word identification; as the focus is on fun and supporting each other, so no one feels embarrassed to share where they’re at with their sight word knowledge. In my experience students who know more of their sight words naturally keep an eye on their peers’ bingo boards and want to help those who haven’t identified a sight word that’s been called out. I encourage them to do this quietly, making sure they give their friends enough ‘think time’ to try for themselves first.
