I used this book by starting with the LAST page. Students decide what object they want to be in there box. The next days following, they add a detail a day that gives their friends a clue about the object in the box. Remind students that each page needs to be a different clue.
My goal is for students to see that the words they are writing have purpose. And that they can use resources around the room (like colors, objects, and word walls) for writing.
We ended the week by sharing each book and allowing their peers to guess what was in the box. They LOVED seeing their book highlighted and the guessing of others.
