I designed this booklet for students to practice the sight words “I, we, can” during “A Week” at a Writing Station or as a whole group activity. These words are taught in Unit 1 of the Reading Wonders series by McGraw-Hill.
Students can use picture clues to read the predictable text and practice tracing the sight words in each sentence. They can color the alligators, draw themselves, and draw themselves with others on each “I/we” beach page. Use as many open-ended “Alligators can”, “I can”, and “We can” sentences as you’d like to encourage even more original writing.
This activity is perfect to use with “Alligators Can Go to the Beach” Sight Word Practice for the Pocket Chart, which is also available at my TpT Store.
1. Copy each page. (Top and bottom halves are identical.)
2. Cut each page in half horizontally.
3. Create booklets using one of each page and add as many open-ended pages as you’d like.
4. Staple together and let the writing begin!
