While teaching the sight word (s) of the week I included these books for my students to practice reading and writing the sight words. My kids loved these and they loved reading them aloud to myself and their peers at their centers. I would give each student a sticker after they read their book to me, and if we had time we would choral read at the beginning/end of the day. I left most of the last pages blank for my kids to fill out their own sight word sentence using their sounds to spell phonetically. These books include 1-3 sight words that need to be re-written on each page. They follow themes including: farm, space, United States symbols, Christmas..etc. I introduce punctuation including: question marks and exclamation points, modeling how each sentence should be read. Each booklet is made up of 6 half sheets (3 full pages cut in half). If they finish, have them read to a friend from their group on the rug. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them!
