Most of us are familiar with the ever-so-popular Dolch Sight Words; they are a curriculum staple in many of our classrooms! But have you ever heard of or used the "other" Dolch Sight Words?
Yes, Mr. Dolch made another list... The Dolch Sight Word NOUN List! Think about it. How helpful would it be in your classroom to have a list of nouns that were the most popular in children's literature, that you could use to teach to your students? It would be so beneficial to all your students, even your RTI learners!
Well look no further! I have the list of Dolch Sight Nouns and am introducing a curriculum must-have for you! I've designed a set of no-prep printables that feature each of the 95 nouns, in a variety of ways. On each printable, your student will do the following with the featured noun:
~Rainbow Write & Trace with Finger
~"Type" on a Keyboard
~Graph the Vowels, Consonants, and Total Number of Letters
~Use it in a Sentence
~Draw a Picture
~Trace Over the Letters
~Circle the Type of Noun It Is: Person, Place, Thing, or Animal
~Do the Word in American Sign Language and Rewrite
WoW! All on one page? Yes! Take a look at the preview image and you'll see the page is attractive and appealing to students. With all the above activities, they're bound to remember the noun and spelling of it after some practice. Please note that the words are not like regular sight words; most of them DO follow a spelling pattern. But they still are words that will be helpful for students to remember because of their frequency in their reading.
As a bonus to get you started with these Sight Nouns in your classroom, I've included a set of Word Wall Cards that you can post in a center or Word Wall. I've also included a Student Noun Journal that students can use to keep track of each noun they've learned.
Please see the preview for an example of the printables and other goodies included!
