Too often children memorize sight words (flashcard style), but then have difficulty reading sight words within a text. These sight word fluency flipbooks are an engaging and interactive way to practice learning sight words using both strategies!
Each flip book focuses on a different sight word from Fry’s First 100 Word List. This means there are 100 flipbooks in all! Each page of the flipbook requires students to interact with the sight word in a different way.
The Sight Word Fluency Flip Books will require students to:
- Rainbow Write – Students trace over the letters of the sight words using different colored crayons.
- Spot and Dot – Students will spot the sight word and dot it with a dauber (or a highlighter will work too).
- Read and Draw – Students will read a short text two times and then circle the sight word. Then, they will have to draw a picture to match the text.
- Write It – Students will have to use the sight word in two different sentences.
These flipbooks can be used during small group instruction, at Word Work, for homework, or in an RTI setting. These are ideal for kindergarten, first, and second-grade students. However, these flipbooks could be used with ESL students or with struggling 3rd graders.
Please download the large Preview to see all that is included (and to grab a free flipbook!).
