Sight Word Fluency List One (Words 1-25) - guided reading - independent reading - partner reading - literacy center - daily 5 - kindergarten - first grade
This 50 page sight word resource helps students become fluent sight word readers.
The following 25 sight words are included: the, of, and, a, to, in, is, you, that, it, he, was, for, on, are, as, with, his, they, I, at, be, this, have, and from.
There are two pages for each sight word included. Each page has five sentences with a matching graphic at the end of each sentence, so there are ten sentences for each sight word.
This resource includes sentences that match my SIGHT WORD FLUENCY EMERGENT READERS.
The sentences are identical to my readers and most graphics are identical to my readers also. This pack would make a great companion to my readers. This resource only includes the first 25 words which are listed above. A pack for words 26-50 is in the works!
In this 50 page resource, students are to first highlight/color the focus sight word in each sentence. There are three stars at the top of each page. After reading all sentences, students are to color one star and have all three stars colored after reading all sentences three times to practice fluency. Students are to use the picture clues to help them with some of the words. Most pages have one sentence per box, but a couple of the pages have two sentences per box. Most sentences fit on one line, but there are a few pages that have some sentences that require students to sweep back to the bottom left of each box to finish reading the sentence. The sentence requires two lines.
There is a bonus star at the bottom of the page. After working on these pages in class, have students take the page home and practice reading the sentences to someone at home. You could also have students get their parent signature after reading the sentences and have students bring the page back to school for a reward. This would really encourage reading at home, and it would give them an incentive to do so!
**To save on paper, these sight word fluency pages can be copied on cardstock and laminated or put in page protectors in a binder for a center activity or for early finishers. Students would use a dry erase marker/eraser to circle the focus sight words on each page and then practice reading the sentences.
*Students can also work with partners in a center to read the pages as they take turns reading sentences.
