Children work individually or in groups see how many leaves, blossoms, apples and snowflakes they can pick, read, and write. These seasonal apple related sight words are great for word work or literacy centres.
The students read the seasonal words. Those words they are able to read they put into the basket. Those words they are unable to read they put onto the tree. Students also like to make up their own games with the various objects.
Students are actively engaged while they sort their sight words into the correct seasonal position. This activity incorporates science seasons as well as being one more fun way to become more familiar with the words that are such an essential component of reading.
