This set of worksheets contains 71 lists of sight words. These worksheets start off very simple with only 4 words. You can start with these list as early as Kindergarten. There is only enough space to write the words once. I am a huge supporter of less is more. Having them write the words multiple times is tiresome and lessens their focus on what is needing to be retained. These lists will take you up through 2nd grade with sight words/most commonly used vocabulary for these ages. I am using these worksheets to teach my current kindergartner to read, write, and spell. After completing this packet a child will be thru 2nd grade with their sight words. What is amazing about that is that this packet could literally be done in 6 months time for any child who might be behind or needing extra help. Another great way to use these worksheets is by having the children cut out the lists as they finish them and put them in some kind of a notebook or art book. This allows the child to feel like they are creating their own masterpiece/book. It motivates the child to want to read more if they feel like they are creating their own book. It's super motivating. I also have sight word flash cards that are these same words. You can use the flash cards to follow up with the child in a simple way. There are 16-20 words per flashcard to lessen on the amount of cards you have floating around. Those can be laminated and put on a key ring for ease of use. Focus on mastering one list at a time. You could literally teach a child 3 years of sight words in one year by using this curriculum. I am using these 2 items subsequently to teach my children to read in a very simplistic way. Be sure to set your printer on the landscape setting and the worksheets will print out larger.
Thanks, and enjoy!
