Included are sight word houses for six sight word list. There are ten sight words per list, with two sight word houses on each page. Each list is on a different colored sight word house for easy planning and switching between lists. Blank houses of each color are included to write in your own sight words if needed.
Sight Word Houses Directions:
-Print, cut, laminate, and cut the sight word houses you would like to use
-Cut segments from a 2x4, i would say around 4-5 inches. I actually had my handy man cut longer segments of wood and then make two angled cuts at the top to create the roof of the house.
-Sand all rough edges, creating a smooth block with no splinters.
-Seal wood segments. You can skip this step if you would like, it just makes it easier to wipe down. Sealing the blocks makes sure the 'kid dirt' and slime, that is somehow in every classroom, won't dirty the wood.
-Super glue the sight word house to the pieces of wood
Students can pick sight words from a cup and find the corresponding house to drive their car to or they can free play with the sight word houses in the block center. So many different ways to play and learn!
Will update with pictures of my sight word houses in actions as soon as I can!
