Here is an interactive Sight Word booklet focusing on the words, "we, have, a." Students practice reading and writing these high frequency words. There are 5 days worth of activities in the booklet. Use this as a weekly “workbook” for an aide or a parent volunteer to use during small group instruction.
Activities Students Complete:
Day 1: Journal (Weekend News)
Day 2: Rainbow Writing & Mix It and Fix It
Students write the words using three different colors.
Students cut apart letters to make the words. They then mix up the letters and “fix” the word. The students then glue the letters down to make the words.
Day 3: What’s Missing & Read It and Use It
Students play letter detective and discover which letters are missing in the list of words.
Students read a sentence missing one of the feature words. Students use the word bank to help decide which word best makes sense to complete the sentence.
Day 4: Listen and Write It
Students write dictated sentences. They then use the attached edit checklist to edit the sentence for capital letters, end marks, spaces and lowercase letters.
Day 5: Word Shapes & Assessment
Students identify the word by looking at the shape boxes. Students write the correct letters in the boxes. Students then spell the week’s word and read sentences containing the words. A great way to tell if the words have been mastered.
