Are you looking for more resources to help your students learn their sight words? Look no further! In this purchase, you will find sight word lists designed to build fluency through practice and consistency. These one hundred thirteen sight word lists are designed to help students practice reading their sight words at their own pace and level. The lists progressively become more challenging in order to keep students engaged, focused, and challenged as fluent readers. I have used this wonderful tool in all levels of classrooms, regardless of the grade level. They can be used as a reading warmup activity, in small differentiated, targeted reading groups, as home practice, in reading stations/centers, and response to intervention (RTI) groups and practice. Kiddos absolutely love moving on to the next list as they pass each one!
As each student reads their sight words, circle the word they get stuck on if they take longer than three seconds to correctly read the word. Have them practice the circled words (words they missed) and write their score on the bottom of the page for that day. Once a student passes the entire list, they move on to the next list. I always had my students keep all their lists in a folder, and never allowed them to get rid of their lists. They would use the old lists for practice, games, quizzing a partner, counting towards their reading minutes, and/or a fluency station during guided reading groups. At the end of the year, students would have their collection of passed lists and be able to see their growth from the beginning of the year to the end of the year! They LOVE seeing this growth! :)
This is one of those resources that I would NEVER let go of, and they are an AWESOME staple for every classroom! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
