Sight word mazes are an excellent way to reinforce basic sight words while keeping all of your students motivated. To use, students will navigate their way their way through a maze of nonsense words by shading in the sight words. This set of mazes (Set #2) contains all the Dolch Primer words arranged into 30 different mazes; this allows students to have plenty of opportunities to practice reading these words.
Although these mazes can be used in a variety of ways (such as morning work or homework), they make excellent literacy centers. To use, run these mazes on card stock and laminate. Students can then use vis-à-vis or dry erase markers to complete.
To create a self-checking center (or a center that is quickly checked by an adult), run the mazes on cardstock and the answer keys on regular copy paper. Insert the mazes in a page protector with the answer keys hidden behind them. Students will then solve the mazes with a vis-à-vis or dry erase marker. Then they can remove the maze and see if their lines match the answer key.
