We call our sight words our “Monkey Words” just to make it a little more fun for our students. We use student binders in our classrooms and these are the check off sheets that each child has in their binder.
There are a few ways to use these sheets. The teacher can initial and date each list or you can have the parent at home initial and date each list. At our school we use one of our guided reading days (we use Monday) as our sight word day so we can test each student on their list. As the student passes the list the teacher initials and dates the list so the parent can check and we can use this for monitoring progress. We also provide the student with a copy of the large sheet of the sight word list he/she is on and the one after so if they master before the week is up they can work on the new list.
Please take the time to check out our other products for sight words. We have our Monkey Word Wall Words and Brag Tags to go with this product. We hope you and your students will love this product. Enjoy
