Use this handout all year during literacy circles, guided reading or phonics instruction.
This activity is perfect to use all year round to teach spelling (encoding) and decoding of sight word and trick words.
All you have to do is provide the words that need to be learned. Students use the "Look, Say, Touch, Write, Check" approach to learning the new sight words.
*Look- Look at the word written on the index card
*Say-Say the word aloud
*Touch-trace your fingers along each letter and whisper each letter as you spell the word
*Write- Write the word under the first flap on the 3-column chart
*Check-check to see if you spelled the word correctly
REPEAT THESE STEPS 2 MORE TIMES SO THAT EACH COLUMN IS COMPLETE AND THAT THE SIGHT WORD IS WRITTEN 3 TIMES
*REPEAT THE STEPS ABOVE FOR EACH NEW SIGHT WORD LEARNED.*
*Student directions, Teacher directions, handout, and folder flapper is all included in this bundle.
