In my first grade classroom we work a lot on sight word recognition. This coming year I wanted a way to be able to communicate with families which words their child is working on at school during the week. Since my firsties are all over the board with their sight word recognition, I typically have 5 to 6 different sight word groups where kids are working on sight words at their level. Using this form allows for easier management on my part and also provides for one more additional practice time for my students! I made a form, which students will fill out on Monday morning, with their focused sight words for the week. At the bottom of the form there is a short note to parents on how important sight word recognition is to their child’s reading growth. Most of my kiddo-s work on 4 new sight words each week, however I made a form with space for 5, 3 or 2 new sight words to provide for differentiation in your classroom. I hope you can use this!
