BUGGY SPIN BOARD GAME ~ Sight Word Partner Game ~ No-Prep Literacy Center
Do your students need a little extra practice with their sight words? My class does! So... I created this fun partner game to give them the extra practice that they need.
How to play BUGGY SPIN:
Needed: 1 game sheet, 1 spinner, 2 players, 2 game pieces, 1 paperclip, and 1 pencil
Directions: Using a paperclip and pencil, Player 1 spins the spinner and moves that many spaces. If the player is able to read the word correctly and can use it in a sentence, the player remains on that spot. If the player cannot accomplish either of those tasks, he/she must return to his/her previous position. If the player lands on a special spot on the game board, (such as START OVER, SKIP A TURN, MOVE AHEAD 2 SPACES, MOVE BACK 3 SPACES) he/she must follow the directions listed. Player 2 continues in the same manner. The winner is the player who reaches the YOU WON! spot first on the game board.
There are 15 game boards included in this download. I use these during Literacy Centers, but you may prefer to use them as morning work or RTI. My kids enjoy this game and love to recite silly sentences using the words. Who doesn't like to make their classmates laugh?!
A spinner is included, but you may also play with a die. Just have the kiddos roll the die and move that many spaces. (The game moves more quickly with a die so the students don't get to read as many words.) The choice is yours.
You may want to print the game boards and spinners on cardstock and laminate them to save paper. My class loves to take the games home to play with family members, so I run them off on regular paper and send them home when we are finished with them in class.
These game sheets may prove to be beneficial in any primary classroom regardless of the reading series used. The sight words in this game may be found on the Dolch 220 Sight Word List.
Thanks for taking the time to look at my products. I truly do appreciate it!
