Young kids LOVE password games! So why not help them with their sight word recognition at the same time? Many of the Kindergarten teachers at my school use this activity and their students love it. This is how it works:
Sight Word Recognition: Print out a board and the sight words you would like to use. Laminate all of the pieces. Attach the board to the outside of your classroom door and tape or Velcro a sight word in the rectangular space. Before your kiddos may leave or enter the classroom, they must tell you the sight word!
Teacher-Made Passwords: Print out a vertical board and one or many blank cards. Laminate all of the pieces and attach the board to the outside of your classroom door Using a dry-erase marker, write a question on a blank card and tape or Velcro it to the board. (I have attached some sample questions later on in the packet.) Before your kiddos may leave or enter the classroom, they must answer the question.
