I have written several poems used to introduce high frequency words in a poetry mini-lesson. We read and highlight the introduced sight word. I read each poem daily for 1-2 weeks and they also become fun familiar reading! The featured words are listed at the bottom of each poem and they also contain review words. Featured words include: or, come, went, good, new, our, are, here, was, an, had, not, do, he, she, be, play, said, by, has, her, this, make, so, all, saw, help, out, have, what, say, from, but, were, when, how, came, there, your, friend, want, where, some, boy, girl, now, why, that, big, is, me, look, at, for, as, of, they, will, up, down. Review words in every poem such as; I, the, we, and, as, see, you, etc.
