Poetry Sight Word Writing and Building with Fry Words 1 - 25
These worksheets are designed to reinforce your student’s knowledge and mastery of sight word reading and spelling. This is the first set of four. Each set contains 25 Fry words.
This first set of 25 FRY words includes:
the, of, and, a, to, in, is, you, that, it, he, was, for, on, are, as, with, his, they, I, at, be, this, have, from.
Each page contains a poem for one of the 25 sight words. Your students will trace over the sight word several times throughout the poem. All of the poems contain predictable, rhyming text and have illustrations to go along with them as another reading cue.
My students keep each poem in a poetry notebook that they can refer back to, and read over and over again! I use these poems along with my Write-In Rhyming Sight Word Books
that I created, which parallel the same Fry word lists per set, to help my students master their sight words!

If you follow me, you already know I love to leave you with a joke and a smile. I hope you enjoy these mispronounced words from kindergarten and first grade students…
Each child was making a list of his/her favorite things . . . Betsy could hardly wait to tell her teacher … “My favorite MOVIE is Booty and the Beast!"
At recess, Clarissa said, “Teacher, I can run and jump turtles!” “Turtles?” The teacher said. “Uh-huh, HIGH-UP turtles … over by my house.” The teacher remembered that she lived over behind the high school stadium. “Oh, you mean hurdles.” She glanced at me sideways. “That’s what I said. Turtles!”
