Directions: This is meant to be used with McGraw-Hill Wonders First Grade Reading Curriculum. Students take turns flipping over popcorn pieces. If they recognize the sight word correctly then they keep the word however if they pick up the “POP!” then they return all popcorn to the pile. Students can develop a sentence using the sight word in order to demonstrate comprehension. The one with the most pieces at the end wins!
Differentiation: As students progress though units you may create different “Popcorn Bags” and include previous taught sight words in each bag-each group given a challenging amount without reaching frustration.
